What makes Bradbury Grange special?
Respite care at Bradbury Grange
Respite care, also known as short-term or short-stay care, is a temporary living arrangement at a care home. It gives both carers, and those being cared for, a bit of time off and a chance to recharge their batteries.
At Bradbury Grange, we offer residential and dementia respite care. Everyone staying with us for a respite break will receive personalised care, tailored to their individual needs. They’ll have their own furnished room and be encouraged to take part in the life of our home and the many activities on offer.
Where are we?
We’re in Whitstable, set back off Canterbury Road, about a mile from Whitstable seafront. We’re easily accessible from the M2 and have great public transport links.
Award-winning music therapy
Our care home in Whitstable is committed to providing alternative therapies such as music therapy to help alleviate isolation and the symptoms for those living with dementia. Our trained and award-winning therapist is funded by charitable donations. They interact directly with residents through live music therapy sessions. This includes singing, playing simple percussion instruments or responding to musical cues in a one-to-one or group setting. Take a look at our video to find out more about this life-changing therapy.
Chaplaincy and pastoral support
We are proud to be supported by a dedicated Chaplain at Bradbury Grange, who offers pastoral support to all, whatever their beliefs. They are in the home three days a week, providing a listening ear, companionship and one-to-one pastoral support for all residents, friends and relatives - irrespective of their beliefs - and organising worship for those who wish to participate.
Activities, trips and events
Our Activity Coordinator keeps residents active and entertained with a fun-packed activities calendar. Activities include: singing and outside entertainers, quizzes and games, bowls, skittles, afternoon tea, animal visits, exercise classes, art and craft sessions, bingo, baking, flower arranging, knitting, Church services week plus personal support from our Chaplain who is employed at Bradbury Grange.
Our many committed volunteers are also often around for a chat and fun including knit and natter sessions, bible studies, coffee mornings and quiz nights.
We regularly take residents on trips to a local garden centre, out for a picnic or to an art gallery such as Turner Contemporary in Ramsgate. Our residents tell us what they’d like to do, and we do our best to make it happen.
And we make the most of any opportunity to have a themed event – including Easter and Christmas celebrations, Red Nose Day, and St Patrick’s Day.

Bradbury Grange’s residential care provides 24 hour support to help residents maintain independence – giving you peace of mind and a place to make new friends and explore new interests.
In many ways it is like living in a hotel, where you don’t need to worry about laundry, changing the bed or cleaning your room. We will use the district nurse and GPs to provide any medical care. Our caring staff help with everyday activities like bathing and dressing and support at meal times.
At the same time, we’ll support you to maintain links with the local community, or develop new friendships. Care staff will help you do that, while also working hard to create a home that’s full of opportunity and possibility.
In the main living areas of the home you will find lounges where you can join in one of the many activities with others or sit quietly with a book or newspaper.

All of the bedrooms at Bradbury Grange are comfortably furnished and have an en suite wet room. We have free wifi throughout the home.
