Local Authority Partners

MHA Communities have links to social care services and other partner organisations for a proactive approach in safeguarding older people’s health and safety.

By tailoring each MHA Communities group to its individual community, we have strong connections with local authorities and services.

Many of our MHA Communities groups are fully or partially funded by local councils (so that members contributions, where they exist, are very modest). They are also supported by adult social care teams, clinical commissioning groups, GPs and others who may refer someone to their local MHA Communities.

We have links to emergency services and others for a proactive approach in safeguarding older people’s health and safety, including:

  • Identifying people who are at the highest risk and ensuring they have the right level of support
  • Providing opportunities to socialise and engage
  • Promoting healthy and active living
  • Enabling independent living through services such as assisted shopping

We take a holistic approach to cover the entirety of people’s needs, continually looking for gaps in local services and filling them.

Our services for early intervention and preventative measures focus on issues such as:

  • Falls prevention
  • Dementia/memory loss
  • Fitness, physical health, healthy eating and wellbeing
  • Social activities
  • Referrals to other agencies

Through our preventative, person-centred services, we can reduce the strain on local health services – delaying, minimising or even preventing people’s need for them.
