We want everyone to be able to enjoy later life, where they are able to contribute and gain from their local areas and in society as a whole. Policy and influencing are important to MHA's work because they have the power to transform later life for the better.

Our policy and influencing work includes:

  • Seeking to influence policy and practice at a local, regional and national level on issues that impact people in later life, such as loneliness and wellbeing, finance and pensions, housing, health and social care including dementia, intergenerational matters and workforce issues including caring responsibilities and older workers.

  • Giving MHA an authoritative voice on ageing issues, informed by what older people have told us in our research and our experiences of providing services to support older people.

  • Building relationships and partnerships with people and help us to help more older people through the work we do.

We're dedicated to helping older people to live later life well

One of our charitable activities also includes advocating and lobbying for older people in society and those who valiantly take care of them.

For the General Election 2019, MHA published 5 calls to help people live later life well our manifesto of the key policy changes we believe are needed to ensure older people can live later life well, based on credible facts and statistics about older people and the ageing population in the UK.
