Where are we?
We’re situated in Leonards on Sea less than a mile from Hastings town centre and the coast. We have easy access to the local amenities and shops. We welcome visitors anytime, and would love to see you at our coffee morning on the first Tuesday of every month.

Activities, trips and events
Our two Activity Coordinators work hard to keep our residents active and entertained with a fun-packed weekly calendar. Activities include: singing, bingo, quizzes, games, baking, afternoon tea and coffee mornings, animal visits, film afternoons, flower arranging, gardening (outdoors and indoors), craft sessions and knitting. We also hold Church services three times a week plus personal support from our Chaplain who is employed at Lauriston.

Our beauty salon offers hair and nail care and hand massages - giving residents a chance to be pampered! And exercise sessions help keep residents active.

We also take residents on weekly shopping trips and regularly invite outside entertainers in to the home.
Our residents tell us what they would like to do, and we do our best to make it happen.

And we love any excuse to put on a themed event. Throughout the year you’ll see events including a Pancake Day fun, Valentine’s Day meal and an Easter Extravaganza.

Award winning music therapy
Lauriston is committed to providing alternative therapies such as music therapy to help alleviate isolation and the symptoms for those living with dementia. Our trained and award-winning therapist is funded by charitable donations.

They spend a day each week at the home and interact directly with residents through live music therapy sessions. This includes singing, playing simple percussion instruments or responding to musical cues in a one-to-one or group setting. Take a look at our video to find out more about this life changing therapy.

Chaplaincy and pastoral support
Lauriston is proud to be supported by a dedicated Chaplain, who offers pastoral support to all, whatever their beliefs. Our Chaplain is in the home 4 days a week, providing a listening presence, companionship and one-to-one pastoral support for all residents, their friends and relatives, and staff members - irrespective of their beliefs - and organise worship for those who wish to participate. Where appropriate, residents are encouraged to maintain links with local faith communities.

“The Chaplain and caring attitude make it a home from home.” Independent review on carehome.co.uk

Privacy and independence, friendship and support - 24 hours a day
Lauriston offers care and comfort, compassion and friendship. At the heart of all we offer is our assurance that you will be treated with the respect and dignity that we all deserve, and if you need anything at all, we’re here to help, 24 hours a day.

Whether in the privacy of your own room or relaxing in the company of your friends and neighbours, we will support you to spend your time doing the things you enjoy. Let us know if it’s music, a favourite newspaper, exercise or a spot of pampering at the salon. Landscaped gardens invite you to appreciate the fresh air, or tend the plants, if you wish.

There’s a wide range of social events, so you never need to feel bored or lonely. All this combines to offer a welcome sense of community, which complements the professionalism of MHA’s highly trained staff.

Lauriston has the latest safety and security design features so you can live life to the full with peace of mind.

Your room
All rooms are en suite and comfortably furnished and we have free wifi throughout the home.

You can bring your own furniture to furnish your room, such as a favourite armchair or their own bed. Walls can be personalised with their own pictures, shelving and ornaments.

Nursing care
Lauriston provides specialist nursing care for those with long-term illness or disability where more complex medical support is required.

Our qualified nursing team are available on site 24 hours a day to provide medical and other forms of specialised support. Respecting older people and recognising each resident as a unique individual, our nurses provide not just high quality nursing skills, but truly person-centred care.

We seek to meet physical needs and frailty as they advance with ongoing nursing care. Most of all we ensure that each resident is treated with the dignity and respect that we all deserve.

Dedicated dementia care
MHA is a pioneer of person-centred dementia care in the UK.

With a reputation for providing the highest quality care, our person-centred dementia care recognises each person as a unique individual and addresses their own spiritual and physical needs, with both reassurance and support.

Everyone with dementia is different. At Lauriston, we take time to get to know each individual’s history, personality and preferences, and find ways to make every day fulfilling.

“One family told us that the staff on the dementia unit had been so kind, they had ensured their mother was comfortable, pain free and never left on her own.” Quote from latest CQC report

Residential care
Finding a place that you can call "home" is a question of getting the right balance.

Lauriston’s residential care provides 24 hour support to help residents maintain independence –giving you peace of mind and a place to make new friends and explore new interests.

In many ways it is like living in a hotel, where you don’t need to worry about laundry, changing the bed or cleaning your room. We will use the district nurse and GPs to provide any medical care. Our caring staff help with everyday activities like bathing and dressing and support at meal times.

At the same time, there is no reason why you can’t maintain links with the local community, or develop new friendships and relationships. Care staff will help you do that, while also working hard to create a home that is full of opportunities.

In the main living areas of the home you will find lounges where you can join in one of the many activities with others or to sit quietly with a book or newspaper.

Food and drink
Meal times are a special part of the day for you to savour tasty food, freshly cooked by our chef to suit you and any dietary needs. And, of course refreshments are available throughout the day for you and your visitors, who are welcome at any time.

“People told us that the food was ‘good’, tasty’ and ‘pretty nice.’”
