Lauriston offers care and comfort, compassion and friendship. At the heart of all we offer is our assurance that you will be treated with the respect and dignity that we all deserve, and if you need anything at all, we’re here to help, 24 hours a day.

Whether in the privacy of your own room or relaxing in the company of your friends and neighbours, we will support you to spend your time doing the things you enjoy. Let us know if it’s music, a favourite newspaper, exercise or a spot of pampering at the salon. Landscaped gardens invite you to appreciate the fresh air, or tend the plants, if you wish.

There’s a wide range of social events, so you never need to feel bored or lonely. All this combines to offer a welcome sense of community, which complements the professionalism of MHA’s highly trained staff.

Lauriston has the latest safety and security design features so you can live life to the full with peace of mind.

Your room

All rooms are en suite and comfortably furnished and we have free wifi throughout the home.

You can bring your own furniture to furnish your room, such as a favourite armchair or their own bed. Walls can be personalised with their own pictures, shelving and ornaments.

Nursing care

Lauriston provides specialist nursing care for those with long-term illness or disability where more complex medical support is required.

Our qualified nursing team are available on site 24 hours a day to provide medical and other forms of specialised support. Respecting older people and recognising each resident as a unique individual, our nurses provide not just high quality nursing skills, but truly person-centred care.

We seek to meet physical needs and frailty as they advance with ongoing nursing care. Most of all we ensure that each resident is treated with the dignity and respect that we all deserve.

Dedicated dementia care

MHA is a pioneer of person-centred dementia care in the UK.

With a reputation for providing the highest quality care, our person-centred dementia care recognises each person as a unique individual and addresses their own spiritual and physical needs, with both reassurance and support.

Everyone with dementia is different. At Lauriston, we take time to get to know each individual’s history, personality and preferences, and find ways to make every day fulfilling.

“One family told us that the staff on the dementia unit had been so kind, they had ensured their mother was comfortable, pain free and never left on her own.” Quote from latest CQC report

Residential care

Finding a place that you can call "home" is a question of getting the right balance.

Lauriston’s residential care provides 24 hour support to help residents maintain independence –giving you peace of mind and a place to make new friends and explore new interests.

In many ways it is like living in a hotel, where you don’t need to worry about laundry, changing the bed or cleaning your room. We will use the district nurse and GPs to provide any medical care. Our caring staff help with everyday activities like bathing and dressing and support at meal times.

At the same time, there is no reason why you can’t maintain links with the local community, or develop new friendships and relationships. Care staff will help you do that, while also working hard to create a home that is full of opportunities.

In the main living areas of the home you will find lounges where you can join in one of the many activities with others or to sit quietly with a book or newspaper.

Food and drink

Mealtimes are an important part of the day here, giving our residents the opportunity to get together and enjoy freshly prepared food in a relaxed restaurant-style environment. We always offer two meal options and our chefs will happily prepare something special if nothing on the menu appeals.

  • Freshly prepared meals, cooked by our in-house chef
  • All dietary and religious needs catered for
  • Locally sourced meats, fruit and vegetables where possible
  • Seasonal ingredients – menus change three times a year with input from residents
  • Specialist equipment and assistance as needed
  • Snacks and drinks available 24 hours a day
  • Home baking every day
  • Relatives welcome to join residents for meals

“People told us that the food was ‘good’, tasty’ and ‘pretty nice.’”
