Residential care

Finding a place that you can call "home" is a question of getting the right balance.

Alexandra House’s residential care provides 24 hour support to help residents maintain independence – giving you peace of mind and a place to make new friends and explore new interests.

In many ways it is like living in a luxury hotel, where you don’t need to worry about laundry, changing the bed or cleaning your room. We will use the district nurse and GPs to provide any medical care. Our caring staff help with everyday activities like bathing and dressing and support at meal times.

At the same time, we’ll support you to maintain links with the local community, or develop new friendships. Care staff will help you do that, while also working hard to create a home that’s full of opportunity and possibility.

In the main living areas of the home you will find lounges where you can join in one of the many activities with others or sit quietly with a book or newspaper.

“Cleanliness is excellent and the staff are outstanding, liaise really well with relatives, and general communication is wonderful.” Independent relative review, carehome.co.uk

Dedicated dementia care

MHA is a pioneer of person-centred dementia care in the UK.

With a reputation for providing the highest quality care, our person-centred care recognises each person as a unique individual and addresses their own spiritual and physical needs, with both reassurance and support.

Everyone with dementia is different. At Alexandra House, we take time to get to know each individual’s history, personality and preferences, and find ways to make every day fulfilling. There is wide range of activities and reminiscence therapy, keeping social interaction and stimulation a key part of everyday life.

Focusing on individual needs and support for older people, we make sure that we help our residents live later life well, aiming to alleviate the symptoms of dementia with understanding and expertise.

Our dementia areas at Alexandra House are secure units, designed to be safe for you, and also as familiar, reassuring and as easy to navigate as possible.

We offer mind stimulating activities and residents enjoy our reminiscence areas and sensory exercise sessions using balls and ribbons.

We provide ‘show and tell’ at mealtimes where you are visually presented with the two meals on the menu so you can select which one you would like. Other options are also available if you would like an alternative.

Your room

All of the bedrooms at Alexandra House are comfortably furnished and have an en suite wet room. We have free wifi throughout the home.

You can bring your own furniture to furnish your room, such as a favourite armchair or own bed. Walls can be personalised with your own pictures, shelving and ornaments.

“Mum's room is very homely and kept clean and tidy. It's like home from home.” Independent relative review, carehome.co.uk
