Weston Road, Stafford, ST16 3TF
Weston & Queensway House is a 70 place care home providing high-quality dementia nursing care.
We are committed to providing alternative therapies such as music therapy to residents, as featured on BBC One's 'Our Dementia Choir with Vicky McClure' documentary.
At Weston & Queensway House, residents can be sure of a focus on their mental health needs as much as their physical care requirements. Residents are encouraged to pursue the hobbies and interests that they enjoy and given the support that enables them to live fulfilled lives every day.
Weston House is linked by a walkway to Queensway House – the former is the older of the two homes by a few months.
What makes Weston & Queensway special?
Respite care at Weston & Queensway
Respite care, also known as short-term or short-stay care, is a temporary living arrangement at a care home. It gives both carers, and those being cared for, a bit of time off and a chance to recharge their batteries.
Everyone staying with us for a respite break will receive personalised care, tailored to their individual needs. Alongside the independence of their own furnished room, respite visitors will be encouraged to participate in the community life of the home and our many activities on offer.
Activities and events
We support everybody’s individual choices, interests and hobbies and our passionate Activity Coordinators create a balanced, stimulating schedule of optional events and ensure a variety of activities to empower residents to explore their interests and discover new ones. We offer music therapy for residents living with dementia, as well as a variety of sessions including reflexology, armchair exercises, gardening, baking, flower arranging, arts and crafts, bingo, quizzes and church services. We also have a dedicated chaplain at Weston & Queensway.
Award-winning music therapy
Weston & Queensway is committed to providing alternative therapies such as music therapy to help alleviate isolation and the symptoms for those living with dementia. Our trained and award-winning therapist is funded by charitable donations. They interact directly with residents through live music therapy sessions. This includes singing, playing simple percussion instruments or responding to musical cues in a one-to-one or group setting.
Chaplaincy and pastoral support
We are proud to be supported by a dedicated Chaplain at Weston & Queensway, who offers pastoral support to all, whatever their beliefs. Our Chaplain provides a listening presence, companionship and one-to-one pastoral support for all residents, their friends and relatives, and staff members - irrespective of their beliefs - and organise worship for those who wish to participate. Where appropriate, residents are encouraged to maintain links with local faith communities.
Seize the day – making unique and memorable opportunities
Funded through charitable support, every MHA care home also prides itself in being able to offer unique and memorable opportunities and activities for residents to quite literally help them 'seize the day'.
