MHA Gledhow has unveiled a pub for residents to enjoy a beverage and relive their memories with loved ones.

The Leeds home officially opened the ‘Gledhow Arms’ earlier this month and it's proving to be a hit amongst residents and family members.

The pub offers a range of drinks from Boddingtons Beer, Carlsberg lager and Sherry.

The seating area can cater for up to eight people and many families have been using the area to have dinner with residents.

Peter Burliegh, maintenance worker and gardener was in charge of building and preparing the pub, which took two weeks to complete.

Speaking after the opening he said: “The idea came after speaking to residents and we decided it would be a good addition to the home.

“I assembled the bar and it looks really good even if I say so myself.

“The feedback has been great, family members of the residents have been using it when they come to visit and it's great to see.

Rita Kaur, home manager added: “The pub has added a nice atmosphere to the home, and you get the same environment as you would in a pub.

“It gives residents the chance to relive the times of when they would go to pubs in their earlier years to drink and socialise.

“When the idea was discussed we were very keen to get the ball rolling and overall, it took around three months from start to finish.

“The residents were very keen to see the finished result and it has gone down really well with everyone.”
