MHA was founded as an independent charity in 1943 by the Methodist Church. Since then the Methodist Church has continued to support MHA by generously fundraising, volunteering and praying for our work.

Specifically the Methodist Church commits itself to spend time praying for MHA and offer continued support through one special Sunday each year, MHA Sunday

Many of our chaplains will visit local churches to lead a service that is prepared for them. We also encourage other representatives from local homes and schemes to offer to talk about their home or scheme on this day. Please do talk to your chaplain to arrange contact with your local church or email chaplaincy@mha.org.uk

Involving the local church in your home or scheme can bring many mutual benefits. The church will be pleased to hear from you, and will want to hear about the work that is going on where you are, the positive impact on residents and members, as well as the challenges you face. Tell them your story of what it is like working where you are, the activities the residents and members are involved in, and don’t be afraid to ask for support including volunteering and fundraising.
