MHA is committed to ensuring the welfare of residents in our communities. That's why our wellbeing service is a key component in all our retirement housing with care schemes.

The wellbeing service includes 24-hour assistance, 365 days a year, help in an emergency and the support with an activities and events programme, depending on availability. There is a fixed fee to provide a core service across each retirement living development.

We understand that your wellbeing needs may vary over time and that you may use the service more or less often. Our goals are to help you stay healthy, happy, and independent, and to prevent you from feeling isolated or lonely.

The service starts before you move into the scheme/village. We will talk to you about what matters to you and how we can support you. We will also ask for some information that we may need to help you, such as your next of kin, GP details, or any other agencies that you want us to contact on your behalf. We will also listen to any worries or concerns that you have about your current or future wellbeing and how we can address them.

What does the wellbeing service include?

Our wellbeing service provides tailored assistance to our residents in a number of ways, including:

  • Morning check call/visit if requested, with reminders of daily events and meals in the Bistro (if available).

  • Weekly activities sheet and daily menu delivered to your apartment.

  • Quick response to any alarm calls and assistance until family or other services arrive, if needed.

  • Daily visits for new residents for the first week to help them settle in, register with GP, doctor, dentist, etc., and show them how to use the facilities and activities in the scheme/village.

  • Up to 5 days of extra personal care after a hospital stay, up to 1 hour per day (subject to assessment and agreement by the Registered Care Manager).

  • Monitoring of the security, health and safety of the scheme/village.

  • Assistance during emergency events such as power cuts, major works, extreme weather, etc.

  • Short-term emotional and practical support and guidance during or after a change of circumstance or significant event. If longer or regular support is needed, alternative arrangements will be made with MHA staff, an outside agency or family.

  • Assistance in finding and joining activities that suit your interests and preferences, either individually or with other residents. Involvement in discussions and planning of the activities available at the scheme/village. Advice on funding, health and safety issues, etc.
