Older people seated doing exercises

MHA, the UK’s largest charitable care provider, has added another feather on its cap after winning an award for one of their new programmes.

The organisation received Best Collaborative Partner Award from the British Gymnastics Foundation, in championing the Love to Move programme across all of its services.

The programme is designed to get those who struggle with their mobility and are living with dementia to do a range of exercises whilst seated and have proven to be quite a success.

Caroline Bruno, scheme manager for MHA Communities South Staffordshire said: “The Love to Move Programme is a real asset for MHA and it's fantastic to see we have been given the award.

“I feel this programme has been the most beneficial so far, as it exercises the body and mind and the feedback from our members have been very positive.”

Tracey Duxbury, activity coordinator at MHA Trembaths, a Letchworth based care home, trained for the programme and teaches it to her residents.

She added: “The training was really comprehensive and very easy to understand.

“Initially I was a little nervous but it has been so worth it.

“I teach the programme in the lounge and all types of residents joined in.

“Some of the residents are not diagnosed with dementia, but are living with age related memory loss

“They all really enjoy it and it's great to see MHA winning the award, and I am happy I took up the training.”
