Chris and Margaret Thompson

Chris and Margaret Thompson are looking forward to the next chapter in their lives as they get ready to move into MHA’s latest development, Mickle Hill in Pickering, North Yorkshire.

The couple will be moving into their new bungalow at the development in the new year and are already looking forward to life in the retirement village, which will have a total of 78 one and two bedroom bungalows and 90 one and two bedroom apartments.

Mickle Hill will also feature a wide range of leisure facilities, including gym, bistro and landscaped gardens plus a host of activities for residents to get involved with.

They told us: “We heard about Mickle Hill at one of the Methodist Church coffee mornings we go to, and as a few friends who are living in our village were talking about the development, we decided to come and have a look for ourselves.

“At the moment we are living in a large house with a large garden and feel that downsizing would have to happen at some point, so we decided to make a move whilst we are still able to arrange everything ourselves – there is a lot of decluttering to do!!

“Fortunately Ryedale Auctioneers have been very helpful and some of our furniture will be entered in one of their auctions, so that will be a great help.”

Added Margaret: “We lived in Pickering for three years whilst I was teaching at Lady Lumley’s school, and loved living there, so we are very pleased to move back to the town - in a way coming back to Pickering will be like coming home.

“As we have no family we are free to go where we like, and we are very excited about meeting new people, getting involved in the community as the scheme grows and enjoying a completely different life style to the one we have enjoyed before. We really feel that Mickle Hill is right for us and can’t wait to move in in the New Year.”

On Thursday 30 September 2021, MHA’s management of Mickle Hill Retirement Living scheme in Pickering was transferred to Rangeford Villages.
