Government Minister and Eastleigh MP Mims Davies visited her local Live at Home scheme to find out all about the work we do to tackle loneliness and isolation among older people.

Mims has responsibility for the Government's Loneliness Strategy so it was great to meet her and explain the work we do in supporting older people and the difference Live at Home can make to lives.

She took time to take part in the weekly Tai Chi session and chat with members as well as talking to our Head of Live at Home Jonathan Mace and Eastleigh Live at Home manager Mark Kirby.

Mark said: “It was lovely to welcome Mims to our Live at Home scheme and showcase the work we, and MHA, do in helping reduce loneliness and isolation among older people across Hampshire and the rest of the country.

“We know from members’ feedback how the schemes make a big difference to their lives, whether it is through helping them keep active, meeting and making friends at lunch or craft clubs or support through our befriending services. At Eastleigh, in common with all our schemes, our members are very much involved in setting the agenda for the activities they want us to run so they get the best out of them.”
