At the start of 2021, MHA rolled out Famileo - a digital/printable family newsletter - across all our care homes. Resident’s families and friends can log in to Famileo on their smart devices or computers and share updates and messages, which colleagues at our homes then print out each week as a personalised Gazette.

The Covid-19 pandemic made it hard for residents to stay in touch with relatives and friends, especially those who struggle with new technologies like Zoom and Skype. Having a physical newsletter that they can read in their own time and treasure makes sharing and staying in touch more accessible.

MHA colleagues can upload photos and messages for relatives to see. These can be general messages about the home or they can be about a specific resident. The simple newsletter format also means that colleagues can create a newsletter for relatives.

We first adopted Famileo at our Coed Craig home in Wales and now Monday afternoons have become a special time for residents, as they receive their gazette full of news from their family and friends. Activity Co-ordinator, Amy Clearly says “All our residents here really look forward to receiving their Gazettes. A lot have families who live abroad or in a different part of the country, so even with visiting now allowed, some still don’t see all their loved ones. This is why Famileo has worked so well”.

MHA would not be able to provide Famileo without the charitable support of amazing people like you. To learn more about how you can help us to provide Famileo to older people in our care, please visit our Famileo fundraising page >

If you would like to know more about Famileo, please speak with your home manager, who will be able to provide you with a unique code to get you started.
