A spontaneous trip for residents and a staff from MHA Heather Grange turned into a trip down memory lane for one resident.

Staff and residents from the Burnley home made the short trip to Pendle Village Mill in the home's minibus.

The gang had a stroll around the shopping centre and enjoyed some cakes and hot drinks before trying on various outfits in the fancy dress shop.

The highlight of the trip however was finding out one of the residents, Sheila Campbell, used to work in the centre bagging up cotton wool several years ago.

Sarah Ashworth, activity coordinator said: “ It was a lovely day, the sun was shining, and it was too good a day to just spend indoors.

“Me and my colleague Nicole, who works as a bistro assistant, asked some of our lady residents if they fancied a trip to Pendle Village Mill and they were more than happy to come along.

“We didn't realise how close Pendle Village Mill is to the home and really enjoyed the time we spent there.

“It's a great place to visit and there is so much to see and do.

“It was fascinating to find out Sheila used to work here, and it was lovely to see her taking in the space and reminiscing the time she spent working there.

“That made the trip extra special, and it seemed like a Seize the Day experience for her

“It was a very successful trip, we had a couple of new residents, and it was their first trip with us and it's definitely one that we want to do again.

“Having our own minibus really helps, and with the weather continuing to improve I can see more trips being planned."
