A resident at MHA Mapplewell Manor was treated to two birthday parties and a visit from the Mayor to mark her 103rd birthday.

Jean Buckley lives at the Barnsley home and celebrated her birthday with two parties, one with her family and another with the residents and staff at the home.

Her daughter Sheila came to see her on her birthday along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jean also had a visit from the Mayor Cllr James Michael Stowe who was accompanied by his wife and Mayoress Elaine.

The home provides residential and residential dementia care for 87 residents.

Fern Ruan, activity coordinator said: “Jean had a great time celebrating her birthday.

“She is an amazing person, one that really looks after everyone and is a huge part of the MHA Mapplewell Manor family.

“She knows everyone at the home and is a really popular person.

“Jean spent time with her family and the residents, so effectively she had two birthday parties.

“She is a fountain of knowledge and still remembers dancing with joy when the Second World War was over.

“She knew it was her birthday and was making sure everyone was looked after and we love her so much here.

“I put in a request for the Mayor to visit, Jean was very pleased to see him and it just added to the celebrations.”
