MHA Edina Court raised more than £750 from their summer fete.

The Wisbech retirement living complex raised the funds by organising a whole host of activities and games during the day.

The complex offers people over the age of 55 the opportunity to join a friendly community, with all the freedom and privacy of having your own front door.

Games such as wine or water, guess the number of sweets in the jar and Jenga were played as well as a barbeque and refreshments to keep the guests fuelled.

There was also a bric a brac sale, the opportunity to buy some classic CDs and a painting sale.

The funds raised will go towards the home amenity fund, which is used to organise trips and activities for residents.

Shelley Vale, care manager said: “The summer fete was the best day ever and everyone had a lot of fun.

“Due to the pandemic, we were unable to organise something like this, so we made sure we planned everything perfectly.

“We had more than 30 family members from all ages come down and it was lovely to see.

“It took me and Carol, the activity coordinator, a couple of months to organise everything but it was worth it.

“The hard work and dedication we put in was what made it a huge success and the money we raised was beyond what we imagined.

“Generally, when we do an event like this we raise around the £500 mark, so when we were counting the money at the end of the day we were amazed

“I want to thank everyone who came and made the day as special as it was and the staff and volunteers who helped on the day.

“We are already planning our next event, which will more than likely be at Christmas and can’t wait to open our doors for that.”
