MHA Chapel Fields celebrated International Nurses Day by highlighting the work nurses do in making sure residents are given the care they require.

The Cheshire based offers high-quality person-centred residential, nursing and dementia care care for 70 residents

International Nurses Day is an international day observed around the world on 12 May each year, to mark the contributions that nurses make to society.

Angela Jenner, a registered nurse at the home said: “I became a registered nurse in November 1986 and struggled to find employment and started working in a hospice where I worked for 22 years before moving to MHA Chapel Fields.

“I work on the Dementia Unit, which was hard to come to terms with initially, but now I see it as a privilege as it helped me to care for my mum who was living with Dementia.

“I really enjoy working at MHA Chapel Fields and have been through some tough times, but we all come together and look after the residents.”

Elizabeth Santiey, another registered nurse said: “ I have been working at the home for 11 years and seen the home grow from strength to strength.

“The level of care given to residents, the support shown to staff, and an encouraging environment is why I love working here and I am very excited in continuing my journey here.”

Gemma Baldivia, a senior care assistant said: “ My experience and knowledge ensures that I deliver a high quality of care to the residents I look after.

“I have amassed a breadth of clinical knowledge and for the 12 years I've been working with MHA, I have felt supported and valued as a member of staff.”

Lydia Gossett has been a registered nurse for over a year and says the support she received has contributed in her confidence growing “exponentially”

She added: “The managers Heather and Julie have really supported me whilst I have been working here.

“They have helped me with my revalidation and also offered me the time to study for my V300 course.

“I am looking forward to seeing where my career at MHA Chapel Fields takes me.”
