A resident at MHA Handsworth celebrated his 103rd birthday with close family members and residents.

Denis Hilton lives at the Altrincham home and was treated to a birthday party to mark his 103rd birthday.

Denis was born in Manchester and went to school in Sale before moving to Bury where he lived with his late wife.

During his younger days Denis worked as an upholsterer and was a keen traveller and painter.

Denis has been living at the home, which provides residential care for 43 residents for more than 2 years.

His nieces and nephew are his closest family members and bought pictures of Denis from his younger years starting from when he was 25 years old, which were displayed in the lounge.

The lounge was decorated with balloons and there was also some live singing to keep everyone entertained.

Charlotte Fowke, activity coordinator said: “Denis was very happy to see his family on his birthday and thanked us all for what was arranged.

“The pictures were great and showcased a real passage through time with pictures from various times in his life.

“We made him a cake with a picture of him from a pre-Christmas meal we had and it was enjoyed by everyone.

“We received a card from his family thanking us,  it was a great day and one that everyone really enjoyed.”
