A resident at MHA Beechville says a “glass of Baileys now and then” is the secret to a long life as she celebrated her 100th birthday.

May Turner, who lives at the Bolton care home celebrated her 100th birthday with a party.

The home provides 63 places for residential and dementia care and put-up birthday banners and balloons to get the home into the party spirit.

She was joined by her daughter to enjoy her day, and to mark the occasion a birthday cake was made by the chef.

May also received a telegram from her Majesty, The Queen which she said was “very special”.

She added: “I really enjoyed my party, and it was a really nice day.

“The cake was nice, and I want to thank the chef for making me such a lovely cake.

“It was very special to receive a telegram from The Queen and I felt very proud.

“I do like a glass of Baileys every now and then, and I had plenty of bread and dripping growing up, which have both helped in living a long life.”

Diana Bellusci, activity coordinator said: “We had a great day celebrating May’s 100 birthday.

“She kept telling everyone she is 21 and was in a good mood throughout the day.

“We organised some live entertainment for her on the day, which was enjoyed by everyone, and we all had a wonderful time.”
