Community rallies around and helps smash target of 100 cards for resident at MHA Connell Court for her birthday.

More than 170 birthday cards were sent to MHA Connell Court following their appeal to get 100 for a resident celebrating her 100th birthday.

Amelia ‘Millie’ Goddard celebrated her 100th birthday on January 7 and was sent 173 cards for her big day.

Millie lives at the Southport home and they arranged a party for her and her close family to mark the occasion.

Her niece Jackie and her husband came to see her as well as her long time friend and hairdresser.

The Deputy Lieutenant of Merseyside, Julie Lawson BEM visited and presented Millie with some flowers and her telegram from King Charles III

As per birthday requirements there was a birthday cake for Millie, along with some live entertainment for everyone to enjoy.

Jennifer McCulloch, administration manager said: “We have been overwhelmed with the support shown to Millie and want to thank each and everyone for sending a card.

“To get the number of cards we did is a huge testament to the people of Southport for getting behind us.

“We got a total of 173 and are still opening and reading them.

“Millie had a great time on her birthday and was taken aback by the number of cards she received.

“She had a wonderful day and really liked the flowers she received from Julie Lawson BEM.”
