There were plenty of celebrations at MHA Hartcliffe following the 101st birthday of a resident.

Gladys Gell moved into Bristol home last month and celebrated her 101st birthday.

Gladys is originally from Nottingham and worked for the NHS as a ward sister.

The home made sure it was a birthday to remember for her by decorating one of the lounges for Gladys and her family to enjoy the day.

Birthday banners were put on her bedroom door, as well as the kitchen staff baking Gladys a birthday cake which was enjoyed by all.

Speaking after her party she said: “I enjoyed the day and had a lovely birthday cake.

“I feel the same as when I was 75 so there's no change.”

Angela Osbourne, admin manager said: “Gladys recently moved in the home so when we knew her birthday was coming up we made sure we gave her a nice party.

“We made a big fuss of her and made sure she settled in okay.

“She received a lot of cards and had her son visit for the celebrations which was nice for her.

“The party was great, all the residents and staff members joined in to help Gladys celebrate her day.

“We all enjoyed the cake, which was amazing and overall, it was a great day.”
