Birthday celebrations at MHA Davids House as resident celebrates 100th birthday

There were plenty of celebrations at a Penarth care home as resident Florence Batts marked her 106th birthday.

Florence, who lives at MHA Morel Court, celebrated the milestone with staff and fellow residents after the home decorated one of its lounges and organised a large birthday cake for everyone to enjoy.

Born in Berkshire, Florence completed nursery training before the Second World War and later worked as a nanny during the war years. She remains very close to Nicola, the daughter of the family she worked for, with the pair sharing a bond like that of mother and daughter.

Nicola now lives in a care home close to MHA Morel Court, which is how Florence came to reside there. As part of her birthday celebrations, Florence spent the afternoon visiting Nicola before enjoying a meal at Nicola’s daughter’s home.

Florence also received a special surprise on the day when Councillor Emma Richards, Mayor of Penarth, paid a visit to present her with a bouquet of flowers.
