About Mickle Hill

Mickle Hill offers the opportunity to join a friendly community, with all the freedom and privacy of having your own front door. It is has a range of facilities and amenities that are designed to make retired life easy and enjoyable.

The development has a range of one- and two-bedroomed bungalows and apartments, creating a diverse and vibrant community of residents aged 60 and over.

The bus routes from Pickering will take you to more local destinations such as Malton – the food capital of the North - as well as the ancient walled city of York, with its magnificent Minster and excellent shopping facilities. The North York Moors Heritage Railway will steam you up to the beauty spots of the North York Moors and nearby Coastal areas like Whitby.

These allow you to have an independent retirement either with or without a car.

How we enrich retirement

Purpose-built apartments

The purpose-built apartments at Mickle Hill are located in the Pavilion, which has ample car parking, lifts to all floors and wheelchair access - well-equipped to welcome visitors and residents alike. The bungalows offer the option of a more secluded location within the village and benefit from a car parking space outside each home.

Fantastic Facilities

The facilities available in The Pavilion add another dimension to life in the village. You will be able to work out in the fully equipped gym, pamper yourself in the hair and beauty salon, or take your friends to the café bistro for a drink.

Flexible Purchase Options

A range of flexible purchase options are available including purchase, shared ownership, rental and ‘Rent Before You Buy’.

Social Activities

More than simply a place to live, Mickle Hill residents have a committee that organises all the activities and outings throughout the year. These can include anything from cheese and wine evenings to tea dances and meals out. Life can be as active or relaxing as you choose, but you'll certainly never be bored.

Wellbeing & Support Services

Whilst you're living independently, you're never on your own at an MHA retirement community. We take pride in our wellbeing service - all residents have access to round the clock staff and support in case of emergencies, as well as regular pop-ins if you're feeling under the weather. Optional domestic or maintenance services are also available to make life a little easier.

Living the way you choose

At Mickle Hill, you can continue to live your life as you wish, with the same independence, privacy and everyday freedom and choices in your own attractive, private apartment. In addition, you have the reassurance of a discreet care package and 24-hour on-site staffing*, leaving you free to go about your life as you always have, with total peace of mind.

*The MHA on-site care team will endeavour to support your personal care needs, depending on the staffing resources available. Nursing care is not provided at this scheme. Therefore, should your care needs become more advanced in the future, the support required may not always be achievable.

Your Care, Your Community

Mickle Hill is an attractive place where you can enjoy your privacy but become part of a vibrant community of like-minded people who value their time and independence. With a range of social and leisure facilities, you'll have every opportunity to enjoy company, make friends and pursue personal interests.

In addition, we offer the services of a Chaplain; whether you follow a faith or would just like a personal discussion on any issue, you can be sure of confidential support in the way that's right for you. Relaxing at home or meeting others outside...how you spend your time will always be your choice.

All apartments are fitted with a 24-hour emergency call system linked directly to the on-site team. Even though you may not feel in need of care at the moment, the support is there in the background. This gives you and your family comfort that, in the event of an unexpected trip or fall, help would be immediately to hand by familiar faces. This sophisticated call system not only covers your own private apartment but also the entire building and gardens for added peace of mind.
