As one of the most well-respected care providers in the sector, providing services to older people for 75 years, MHA has issued a statement in response to the Government’s White Paper on Immigration.

Sam Monaghan, Chief Executive of MHA, commented: "MHA employs many workers both from within the EU and beyond. We will be working closely with the government and responding to the forthcoming year-long consultation to help identify issues and influence the progress of this White Paper to protect and support our current and potential workforce.

"We value our amazing care staff and pay the Real Living Wage. We would strongly argue that care work is far more skilled than it is often perceived and we are working with the Department of Health and Social Care on their nationwide recruitment campaign.

"We look forward to the Migration Advisory Committee report in spring 2019 reviewing the Shortage Occupation List (SOL) and we would also urge the Government to publish its much-delayed Social Care Green Paper to look more fully at the sector as a whole and to ensure that we have a fit for purpose system for the sector going forwards."
