The death of George Floyd has reminded us all that racism remains prevalent in today’s society. The protests we have witnessed across the continents are a product of systemic racism over many years that continue to disadvantage Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities.

Sadly, George Floyd’s death cannot be viewed in isolation. Many of our colleagues will have experienced racism and unequal treatment and Covid-19 has evidently had a disproportionate impact on our BAME colleagues. At MHA we also know that we have a journey to go on to ensure that at every level of our organisation we fully reflect the diversity of our workforce and the communities we serve and work in

I would like to reassure our black colleagues and communities that we are standing in solidarity with you. We appreciate that this will be an emotional and painful time. We are here to support you in any way we can.

Sam Monaghan, Chief Executive of MHA
