MHA Oak Manor celebrates tip top building progress

MHA's newest care home, Oak Manor in Ivel Road in Shefford, celebrated the progress of the build so far with a topping out ceremony. 

Shefford Mayor, Paul Mackin came along to proceedings and reached the very top of the build to help kick off the celebrations. Alongside him at the pinnacle were representatives from MHA and Castleoak.

MHA Oak Manor is due to open this autumn, providing an additional 64 beds for residential and dementia care in the area. Elizabeth Parker has been appointed as the home’s manager, with other care and support staff due to be in place in late summer ready for the arrival of new residents.

The new care home is being delivered by Castleoak, specialists in the development and construction of care homes and retirement living.

Julie Ogley, Director of Health, Housing & Social Care at Central Bedfordshire Council, commented: “I’m delighted to welcome MHA to Central Bedfordshire in helping meet the growing care needs of our older population.

“I am sure that Oak Manor will be a real asset for Shefford and I’m reassured that MHA’s expertise in dementia care and community presence will be increasingly important as we work together to provide the best care possible for our older residents.”

Andrew White, Head of Development at MHA, said: “This is a really exciting day for our teams as Oak Manor starts to take shape and we’re delighted that the Mayor of Shefford was able to join us for the celebrations.

“While we’ve reached the literal high point of the home during this topping out ceremony, for us the highlight will be when all our residents and staff are settled in, making it a real home. We’re very much looking forward to the months ahead!”

Castleoak Contracts Manager, John Smith added: “We are delighted to be delivering our 15^th care home for MHA. It’s very exciting to reach this stage of the build. We remain focused on delivering another high quality home in the heart of Shefford for residents.”
