This International Volunteers Day (Wednesday 5 December), MHA will celebrate and thank the 5,000 outstanding individuals who volunteer their time to support our members and residents right across the UK.
The global campaign is an opportunity for volunteers, and the organisations they support, to raise awareness of, and gain understanding for, the contribution they make to their communities.
The act of volunteering is found in all cultures, languages, and religions. Each year, hundreds of millions of people volunteer their time and skills to help make the world a better place. When they volunteer, they help to improve the lives of others. And when they volunteer, they also gain a greater sense of belonging to their communities.
The theme this year is ‘building resilient communities’ which is particularly pertinent for MHA as we strive to support older people in our local communities to help them to avoid loneliness and isolation. We also seek to bring energy and activity to the communities and networks within our care homes and retirement living communities.
Our many volunteers are integral to this work and we take every opportunity to recognise their contribution and the difference they make in all of the communities we touch. We say a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to all of our dedicated volunteers.
