A mother and daughter team are behind a fundraising afternoon tea at Kelham Hall from noon on Tuesday 31 July.
The event is one of the first to be organised by Hannah Day in her new role as Manager of MHA’s Southwell Live at Home Scheme and is the first fundraiser to be run jointly with Newark Live at Home Scheme, which is managed by Hannah’s mum, Cheryl Day.
Tickets, costing £20, will include finger sandwiches, scones or pastries, cakes, unlimited tea or coffee and entertainment from vintage singer Jayne Darling, with the proceeds being divided between both Schemes. Participants are being invited to wear a hat or fascinator.
Vegetarian and gluten-free alternatives can be provided if requested when booking. Transport can be provided but anyone needing this is advised to book early as places are limited. Tickets can be obtained by calling Newark Live at Home Scheme on 01636 674521 or Southwell Live at Home Scheme on 01636 816565.
MHA’s Live at Home Schemes combat loneliness and help keep older people healthy and active with a range of activities including lunch clubs, befriending visits, outings and exercise classes.
Hannah said, "We're inviting people to put on their best hat or fascinator and enjoy afternoon tea in the opulent surroundings of Kelham Hall. It’s a chance for them to get dressed up and socialise. As well as the two Schemes working in partnership, I will be working in partnership with my mum - we are keeping MHA in the family. We’re advising people to get tickets as soon as possible because we think this will be a very popular event.”
