‘Come on in and say hello’ invitation from MHA’s care homes
From a Mad Hatter’s tea party to pampering sessions, MHA’s care homes across the country are opening their doors and holding special events for their local community as part of national Care Home Open Day 2015.
The aim behind the day is to build even better links between homes and their local communities as well as to show people the excellent work carried out in care homes.
MHA, a national charity based in Derby, currently runs 87 care homes across England, Wales and Scotland, caring for 4,500 residents with varying needs. The charity also runs Live at Home schemes to help older people live independently in their own home as well as retirement living schemes.
There is a wide range of events happening in MHA’s care homes from art and crafts sessions through to afternoon teas and dancing. To find out what is happening go to www.nationalcarehomeopenday.org.uk
Director of Care Homes Carol Artis said: “Our care homes are vibrant places and the open days on 19 June are a great chance for local people to join in with our residents and make new friends. Many of our residents used to live in the communities we are based in so it is great for them to see this support as well.
“Our care homes offer a homely and warm environment for residents so we want to share this with local people and look forward to welcoming them into our homes, especially younger people who might not have had the opportunity to visit a care home before and experience its friendliness.”
A list of all Care Home Open Day events for MHA is below, along with times when reporters and photographers are welcome to attend.
