Pam Rhodes at launch of MHA Yuletide Yodel

BBC Songs of Praise presenter and broadcaster Pam Rhodes helped launch ‘Yuletide Yodel’ a fundraising initiative for older people’s charity Methodist Homes (MHA).

Pam is a patron of MHA, which supports more than 18,500 older people across Britain through its community-based Live at Home services, care homes and retirement living services, working to enhance later life and counter loneliness and isolation.

Yuletide Yodel encourages people to join together to sing carols and Christmas songs in their local community to help raise funds for MHA by holding a collection at the same time.

Residents from MHA Willowcroft care home in Spondon, Derby joined Pam and MHA’s Chief Executive Sam Monaghan to sing carols and Christmas songs at Derby Cathedral. They were accompanied by music therapists from MHA, one of the services for older people living with dementia which is funded through the charity.

Pam said: “Yuletide Yodel is a great opportunity to get people together for a beneficial sing-a-long while raising funds to support older people.”

Sam added: “Money raised will support the various projects and services that MHA delivers at Christmas time and throughout the year, which help to reduce loneliness and isolation for people in later life.

“By holding a Yuletide Yodel, people will help us enable people to live later life well. It’s a fun activity to do at the festive time of year that brings people from across the community together.”
