Policy and Research at MHA

We want everyone to be able to enjoy later life, where they are able to contribute and gain from their local areas and in society as whole. Policy and research are important to MHA's work because they have the power to transform later life for the better.

Our Policy work:

  • Seeks to influence policy and practice at a local, regional and national level on issues that impact on people in later life, such as loneliness and wellbeing, finance and pensions, housing, health and social care including dementia, intergenerational matters and workforce issues including caring responsibilities and older workers.
  • Gives MHA an authoritative voice on ageing issues, informed by what older people have told us in our research and our experiences of providing services to support older people.
  • Builds relationships and partnerships with people and help us to help more older people through the work we do.

Our Research work:

  • Explores the views of older people to help us inform and influence public debate on older people's issues and develop our services.
  • Provides better evidence and demonstrates ‘what works’ to develop practical and policy solutions to transform later life for the better.
  • Collaborates with partners to explore and test new ideas.
