Birthday celebrations at MHA Handsworth as resident turns 101
A resident of MHA Handsworth was given a surprise party to celebrate his 101st birthday.
Denis Hilton has been living at the home, which provides residential care for 43 residents, for six months.
The surprise party consisted of a birthday cake, balloons, a wonderful spread and plenty of birthday cards.
Speaking after the party, Denis said: “I really enjoyed my birthday party and felt very spoiled.
“It was a very nice surprise and I really enjoyed myself.
“I want to thank all the staff members who made the effort for me and I am very happy with how the day went."
“In my opinion the key to a long life is living it to the fullest and I can say I have definitely been given the opportunity to do that.
“I am really enjoying my time here and the staff are fantastic”
Leanne Whitworth, activity coordinator said: “Denis enjoys interacting with others and still enjoys his exercises every morning.
“He always joins in with activities and likes to keep active and busy.”
