A staff member at MHA Cedar Lodge has raised more than £2,500 for her workplace after running a half marathon.

Anne Hemming, who works as an activity coordinator decided to do the challenge with her daughter, Rebecca, to raise funds for the homes amenity fund.

The pair started the run from the home, which provides residential, nursing and residential dementia care for 47 residents and went around the surrounding villages before coming back to the finish line at the home.

The funds raised will go towards purchasing an interactive tablet for residents to help them participate in activities and keep in touch with relatives.

Anne completed the half marathon, which is just over 21km in 3hours and 20 minutes, 40 minutes ahead of her target.

She said: “I was very proud of my efforts and didn’t feel tired, but there were some parts of the marathon where I felt like I couldn't go on but I managed to stay focused.

“The thought of the residents and staff members who have supported me immensely throughout the challenge is what kept me going.

“The weather on the day was okay, the route did have some hills which made it tough, but I am very happy with the outcome.

“It was so nice to see my friends and family at the finish line which made the challenge worthwhile.

“I do want to continue fundraising for the home as the tablet is very pricey and we are still away from the target.

“I want to thank everyone who has contributed so far and hopefully we will be able to get the tablet very soon.”
