Services for older people in Reigate & Redhill

At East Surrey - Reigate & Redhill Live at Home scheme, we want to enable older people to maintain their independence and live more fulfilled lives.

Through befriending, lunch clubs, assisted shopping, activity and friendship sessions, outings, escorts to appointments and much more, MHA's Live at Home schemes across the UK help to tackle loneliness and isolation in people over 60 – helping them to lead fulfilled lives and remain as active members in their local communities.

Activities at Reigate & Redhill Live at Home scheme include:

  • Weekly social clubs with a home-cooked lunch
  • Monthly coffee mornings
  • Monthly pub lunches
  • Monthly supported shopping trips with buffet lunch
  • Weekly club for those with dementia and their carers
  • Befriending service for those who like a weekly visitor in their own home
  • Telephone support service - ‘Friendship down the line’
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Days out and holidays.
  • Repairs service

The scheme's activities programme is designed and led by its members and volunteers to ensure that we are providing the practical and social support which those we serve need.

Lionel – "Live at Home is better than the Ritz!"

Maureen – "You should rename yourselves ‘Love at Home’"

Stuart – "The Live at Home Repairs Service is second to none!  I couldn’t have asked for a better service or nicer people to help me."

Information for businesses and corporates

MHA is able to subsidise many of its charitable services thanks to the generous contributions of businesses who want to make a difference in their local communities. How to get involved

Information for families and friends

If you’re looking at Live at Home to help someone you know, we understand. With a busy work life, family and other responsibilities, sometimes it just isn’t possible to travel regularly and give a loved one the dedicated care and support you wish you could provide. Refer a family member or friend

Information for healthcare professionals

If an older person in hospital has no family, friends or neighbours, we can assist them to return home. We work with GP practices, hospital discharge and re-enablement teams and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) to support older people adjust and settle back at home after a period in hospital. Refer a patient

Information for local authorities

Through our preventative, person-centred services, we can reduce the strain on local health services – delaying, minimising or even preventing people’s need for them. More information

Volunteers needed

Can you offer your time to prevent people from feeling lonely and isolated? Maybe you're looking to become more involved with your local community?

If this sounds like you, we need your help!

We are offering you the opportunity to help older people in your community live later life well. We run weekly groups for people aged 55+ and are looking for Volunteers to get involved for a few hours a month, whenever it suits YOU!

We know that your time is precious so we will work with you to make sure you get the most out of your experience with us. From working directly with the groups and running your own sessions, to representing the scheme at local events are many aspects of the organisation you can choose to get involved with!

If you are a good communicator who shares our values of helping eliminate loneliness in older people, get in touch.

We are currently recruiting for the following volunteer roles:

  • A volunteer who would be willing to undertake regular member reviews over the phone, 1 or 2 mornings each month.  Training will be provided.
  • A regular driver who would be willing to take one of our members to the Horley club, collecting each Wednesday around 10am and taking back home at 1.30pm.
  • A regular helper for the Redhill club on a Wednesday to help out in the kitchen.
  • Volunteer drivers always needed to take our members to and from our regular events.
  • Volunteer befrienders always needed to visit our more isolated members each week to provide a little company.
