Services for older people in East Surrey

At MHA Communities East Surrey, we want to enable older people to maintain their independence and live more fulfilled lives.

Through befriending, lunch clubs, assisted shopping, activity and friendship sessions, outings, escorts to appointments and much more, MHA's Communities across the UK help to tackle loneliness and isolation in people over 60 – helping them to lead fulfilled lives and remain as active members in their local communities.

Activities at East Surrey scheme include:

Weekly social clubs with a home-cooked lunch
Monthly coffee mornings
Monthly pub lunches
Monthly supported shopping trips with buffet lunch
Weekly club for those with dementia and their carers
Befriending service for those who like a weekly visitor in their own home
Telephone support service - ‘Friendship down the line’
Volunteering opportunities

The activities programme is designed and led by its members and volunteers to ensure that we are providing the practical and social support which those we serve need.

If you’re looking at MHA Communities to help someone you know, we understand. With a busy work life, family and other responsibilities, sometimes it just isn’t possible to travel regularly and give a loved one the dedicated care and support you wish you could provide. If an older person in hospital has no family, friends or neighbours, we can assist them to return home. We work with GP practices, hospital discharge and re-enablement teams and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) to support older people adjust and settle back at home after a period in hospital. Through our preventative, person-centred services, we can reduce the strain on local health services – delaying, minimising or even preventing people’s need for them. More information

Designed to enhance later life living by putting an interactive world at the fingertips of our members, MHA Active is a lifestyle and wellness app that provides a raft of content tailored to an older audience.

Befriending

Our popular befriending service is exactly what it sounds like - getting people together to make friends. From telephone calls, face-to-face meet-ups or video calls our befriending service is tailored to meet the needs of the individual.
