Many of our Live at Home communities are dementia friendly and provide specific services to meet our members’ needs.

Live at Home communities are local groups and clubs aimed at supporting older people to maintain their independence by participating in, supporting or leading a range of different groups, clubs and activities.

Each scheme is different – with a mix of services suited to the local area and tailored to meet the differing needs within the local community.

Our groups also provide various volunteer-led befriending services, offering support and companionship to older people who feel or are at risk of becoming lonely and/or socially isolated. These range from home and telephone visits to dementia friendly meetings in cafes which are suitable for people living with dementia and their carers and dementia friendly walking sessions at local parks.

Our staff and volunteers are aware of and understand dementia. We help ensure that people with dementia can continue to live in the way they want to and in the community they choose for as long as possible.

Our dementia-friendly groups are a much needed step in helping people with dementia live well in later life.

Too many people with dementia withdraw from their local community and we aim to provide support and services that cater to the needs of those living with dementia.
