The leading care home reviews site, carehome.co.uk, has announced that MHA has once again been named as one of the Top 20 care home providers in the country along with two of its homes receiving regional awards.

The awards are based on reviews of care homes written by their residents, as well as their friends and relatives, with thousands of homes battling it out to make it into the Top 20 for each of the 12 regions.

Looking for a care home for a relative or a friend can be a hugely emotional journey, marking such a significant life change. Many are also unfamiliar and uncertain about the process and what should inform their choice. It was in response to this that carehome.co.uk launched its awards back in 2014, with the aim of making people’s search for a care home easier.

MHA Chief Executive Sam Monaghan said: “This is fantastic news, reflecting the ongoing dedication of our staff to improving standards across all aspects of care, whether that be in terms of our responsiveness, wellbeing, and safety, leadership, or systems.

“Our care staff have done an immense job during the past 12 months to keep residents connected with their families, working within guidance to help keep residents safe from Covid-19 and helped administer the vaccine roll-out in homes.

“What’s most heartening, shining through these reviews from residents, families, and other people closely involved with our homes is the genuine care and concern for the people we look after.”

MHA’s homes in the regional Top 20s are Pennystone Court in Blackpool and Starr Hills in Lytham St Annes for the northwest region.

There are over 18,500 care homes in the UK and residents, relatives and friends rate the homes on their overall standard, their facilities, the quality of their care and support, cleanliness, whether residents are treated with dignity, the standard of food and drink, staff, activities, management, security, and value for money.
