Care Home Visiting Facilitator Volunteers Needed!

We're delighted that our care homes are now able to facilitate indoor visiting, which will have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of our residents and their loved ones.

A high degree of caution with continued social distancing and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will still be in place, but this is where our care home visiting facilitators can help.

What would I be doing as a care home visiting facilitator volunteer?

  • Explaining procedures to visitors
  • Safely directing visitors in, around and out of the home
  • Ensuring procedures and guidance is followed correctly, such as social distancing
  • Helping with distributing PPE and sanitising within the home
  • Sensitive chaperoning of visits.

Do I need to have had a Covid-19 vaccine?

In order to apply for this role, you must have received at least your first Covid-19 vaccination, be prepared to be regularly tested at the care home and wear PPE, which will be provided.

What impact would I have?

These simple tasks will help alleviate pressures from our care home colleagues and support our residents to be reunited with their loved ones after a long period of time.

Whilst no experience is required, we’re looking for people who have the following skills and qualities:

  • Physically able to perform tasks required
  • Good communication skills
  • Friendly and welcoming personality
  • Flexible
  • Ability to take instruction and direction
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Patience, empathy and understanding of the needs of older people - be aware that residents and their loved ones may be very emotional seeing each other so you will need to be prepared for this and be sensitive whilst also encouraging people to follow the guidelines we have in place
  • Mindful of infection control and good hygiene at all times.

Our volunteers are making a difference every day.

Please check the list below to see if your nearest MHA care home is currently recruiting for this role. If so, please complete the form below to apply. Our Volunteering Team will then be in touch with you to discuss further. Please note that there are limited opportunities in each home.
