Help older people in your local community to stay independent and well-nourished by becoming a volunteer shopper
Do you love shopping and helping others? Do you want to make a difference in the lives of older people in your community? If so, you might be interested in becoming a volunteer shopper for MHA.
As a volunteer shopper, you will help our care home residents or older people living independently in the community with their grocery shopping needs. You will either go shopping for them or you may be asked to collect online orders and drop them off at their homes or care homes.
By volunteering as a shopper, you will not only help older people to stay independent and well-nourished, but also enrich your own life with new experiences and friendships. You will also gain valuable skills and knowledge that can enhance your personal and professional development.
A volunteer shopper is someone who helps older people with their grocery shopping needs. A volunteer shopper may go shopping for them, support with placing an online shop for them, or collect and deliver online orders for them.
By becoming a volunteer shopper, you can help older people to stay independent and well-nourished. You can also enrich your own life with new experiences and friendships. You will also gain valuable skills and knowledge that can enhance your personal and professional development.
You can apply online by filling out a short application form. You will also need to complete a DBS check and attend an induction training session before you start your role. Our Volunteering Team will guide you through the application prcoess and be on-hand to answer any questions you may have.
The time commitment varies depending on the needs of the older person you are matched with and your availability. Generally, we ask for a minimum of one hour per week for at least six months.
You will receive ongoing support and guidance from a local coordinator who will match you with an older person, monitor your progress, and provide feedback. You will also have access to online resources, training opportunities, and peer support from other volunteers.
