Services for older people in Winchester

MHA Communities Winchester was established in 2000 and supports over 300 older people across the Winchester District. Our primary aim is to enable older people to live later life well which we achieve through the provision of one to one services and group activities. MHA Communities across the UK help to tackle loneliness and isolation in people over 60 - helping them to lead fulfilled lives and remain as active members in their local communities. All scheme members benefit from a regular newsletter, birthday card, Christmas gift bag, regular telephone contact, free will writing service, access to our lending library, transport to one off appointments (subject to availability), opportunity to partake in outings and holiday as well as signposting & information. Above all our members know that we are always there for them at the end of the phone for whatever they might need.

If you’re looking at Live at Home to help someone you know, we understand. With a busy work life, family and other responsibilities, sometimes it just isn’t possible to travel regularly and give a loved one the dedicated care and support you wish you could provide. Refer a family member or friend

Information for healthcare professionals

If an older person in hospital has no family, friends or neighbours, we can assist them to return home. We work with GP practices, hospital discharge and re-enablement teams and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) to support older people adjust and settle back at home after a period in hospital. Through our preventative, person-centred services, we can reduce the strain on local health services – delaying, minimising or even preventing people’s need for them. More information
