Services for older people in East Surrey

At MHA Communities East Surrey, we want to enable older people to maintain their independence and live later life well.

Our social groups provide a whole range of support and services, including a wide range of activities and events, supported outings, befriending services, interest groups, signposting and other services that enable older people to remain actively involved in their local community.

Face to face befriending is one of our most popular services here at East Surrey, befriending is exactly what it sounds like – getting people together to make friends. Many older people living in their own homes can become isolated and lonely, but with a regular weekly visit - perhaps to read the paper to a visually impaired person, or to play cards, or enjoy a cup of tea together or take a short stroll together - MHA Communities can help stop this from happening. Our trained volunteer befrienders are matched with local members based on their interests and personalities by their local locality manager. Our volunteer programme is currently financially supported by the National Lottery Awards for All.
