Ardenham Lane, Bicester Road, Aylesbury, HP19 8AB
At Hillside care home, we provide nursing care with places for 68 older people, those with a physical disability and younger people with a long term medical condition.
It’s a wonderfully calm and welcoming space, where our passionate team deliver personalised care to our residents in a warm, supportive and safe environment.
We also offer day care and short-term respite care.
There’s a real community feel here and we encourage residents to be at the centre of everything, by getting involved in choosing menus, planning activities and even staff interviews.
What makes Hillside special?
Where are we?
Hillside care home is in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. We’re situated centrally, just off Bicester Road and close to the town centre with access to shops, restaurants, cinema, theatre, cafes and swimming pool. Local transport including busses and the train station are within walking distance. Located just off the A41 means that both the M25 and M40 are within easy reach.
Activities, trips and events
We support everybody’s individual choices, interests and hobbies and our passionate Activity Coordinators love keeping residents active and entertained. They provide a fun-packed and stimulating schedule for people to participate in as they choose.
There’s baking, flower arranging, knitting, art and crafts, gardening, exercise classes, external entertainers, optional church services, bingo and quizzes just to mention a few of the things we get up to.
We regularly go out and about when we can, with visits to the seaside, pub lunches and trips to the theatre.
Enjoying younger company
Every week a local toddler group joins us. They love to get involved and entertain with songs and dancing. We also enjoy regular visits from local schools and Brownies and Scout groups. Our relationship with the Chevening Institute enables us to welcome international students to volunteer with us.
We love technology
We’re delighted to have recently won an 'innovation award' at the Buckinghamshire County Council Dignity in Care awards. We were chosen due to our diverse use of technology. This includes a virtual reality headset for personalised adventure experiences, freely accessible internet access for shopping and communicating with family members living abroad and social media messaging service for routine access to the management team.
Chaplaincy and pastoral support
We’re supported by a dedicated Chaplain at Hillside, who offers pastoral support to all, whatever their beliefs. They provide a listening presence, companionship and one-to-one pastoral support for all residents, their friends and relatives, and staff members - irrespective of their beliefs - and organise worship for those who wish to participate.
Seize the day – unique and memorable opportunities
Funded through charitable support, every MHA care home also prides itself in being able to offer unique and memorable opportunities and activities for residents to quite literally help them 'seize the day'.

Our experience
MHA is an award-winning charity, helping to improve the lives of over 19,000 older people across Britain every day. As the only national care provider to offer connected care and support through specialist care homes, thriving retirement living and vibrant community groups, our organisation is helping people live later life well.
Hillside provides care, comfort, compassion, and friendship to ensure that all residents are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. Our highly trained and dedicated staff are available 24/7 to provide assistance whenever needed, ensuring the provided care and support is tailored to each individuals needs.
Whether in the privacy of your own room or relaxing in the company of your friends and neighbours, we will support you to spend your time doing the things you enjoy. Let us know if it’s music, a favourite newspaper, exercise or a spot of pampering at the salon. Landscaped gardens invite you to appreciate the fresh air, or tend the plants, if you wish. There’s a wide range of social events, so you never need to feel bored or lonely.
Hillside has the latest safety and security design features so you can live life to the full with peace of mind.
All rooms have an en suite toilet and sink, a tv and there’s free wifi throughout the home.
We encourage our residents to furnish their own rooms as they wish. This could be as simple as hanging a couple of their favourite pictures on the wall, but they’re also welcome to bring their own comfy chair, or anything that makes them feel at home. The most important thing is for everyone to feel comfortable, happy and settled.
Our 24-hour nursing care is tailored for individual needs.
We provide round the clock specialist nursing care for those with medical needs, whether that’s a long-term illness or disability. Medical and other forms of specialist support are delivered with friendly expertise by our highly skilled team of nursing professionals.
As you’d expect from our wonderfully compassionate team, nursing care is wholly person-centred to meet the requirements of each individual with respect and dignity at all times.
At Hillside we also care for younger people, aged between 18 and 65, with a range of complex health needs, such as Huntington’s disease and multiple sclerosis. Specialist nursing care is delivered in a nurturing, safe and comfortable environment.
Our younger residents are at the heart of the home and we have a real ethos of fun. They are involved in developing and running activities and taking care of the pets in the home. We have a range of activities aimed at the varying age group, ensuring they continue to enjoy every day. Being located close to the town centre allows residents to go shopping, with support, retaining as much independence as possible.
Meal times are an important part of the day here, giving our residents the opportunity to get together and enjoy freshly prepared food in a relaxed restaurant-style environment. We always offer two meal options and our chefs will happily prepare something special if nothing on the menu appeals. And, of course refreshments are available throughout the day.
Our highly-trained, dedicated members of staff will always be on hand to provide your care and support in the way that best suits you, in the comfort of your own room with en suite facilities.
We choose the people who work with us very carefully. They need to share our values and respect people, their life experience and personal choices.
We take pride in the cleanliness and maintenance of your home and provide a thorough and friendly cleaning service. Your personal washing will be carefully laundered and returned to you, clean and fresh.
We also provide regular gentle exercise sessions and have close links with GP surgeries, district nurses and dentists. Our in-house hair salon keeps everyone looking their best and the weekly visits from a local nursery keep us all young at heart.
Our team are happy to help you when you are ready to discuss the care and support that you, or your loved one may need. You can call us directly, arrange a tour of our home or submit an enquiry and we’ll contact you.
