What makes us special

With 80 years experience of delivering care and support for older people, we know what it means to help people live later life well.

MHA has delivered care and support to older people across the UK for 80 years. We place great importance on the spirituality, physical and emotional wellbeing of the people we support.

We create opportunities for older people to feel peace, fulfillment, and meaning in later life.

There are three key factors help to make us the special organisation that we are:

1. Compassionate care and respect for each person

Our colleagues, volunteers and leaders are driven by a passion to care. We value the uniqueness of each person and their life story.

We have a dedicated chaplain in every care service to offer pastoral support, friendship and a listening ear to all residents, their families and our colleagues.

We tailor our activities and opportunities to the individual preferences of our residents through our Seize The Day initiative.

We provide high-quality specialist dementia care that respects each person’s dignity, independence and identity.

We also offer music therapy to reduce the isolation and symptoms of dementia.

2. Nurturing the body, mind, and spirit

Our focus on spirituality sets MHA apart from other care providers. Instilled in our values and behaviours, we are uniquely able to understand the importance of finding meaning and purpose in life, even at the end of life

We also have developed The Final Lap training programme that empowers our colleagues to talk openly and positively about death and dying.

3. Professional standards

MHA operates with effective governance to deliver high-quality care that exceeds the expectations of our residents and members. All our care homes are independently regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England and Care Inspectorate Wales and Scotland. We have one of the highest average ratings in the sector for large care home providers.

MHA is also recognised as one of the best care providers in Great Britain by the leading care home reviews site carehome.co.uk. The awards are based on reviews by relatives and friends who have experienced our care first-hand.

As one of the few not-for-profit care providers, we reinvest any surplus to ensure we provide the best possible care and support to people in later life.
