MHA is delighted to welcome Silk Healthcare, a care home operator in the north east of England with four homes for 320 residents, to the MHA family.
Silk Healthcare is now a subsidiary of MHA, an award-winning national charity which provides support, accommodation and care for 17,000 older people across England, Wales and Scotland. This includes 84 care homes providing residential, nursing and specialist dementia care.
In addition to acquiring the four homes at Yarm in Cleveland, Barnsley in Yorkshire and Burnley, and Colne in Lancashire, MHA will acquire and operate the new care home in Stainton, Middlesborough, once development is completed.
MHA’s Chief Executive Adrian Bagg said: “As a charity we have a ten-year strategy to more than triple the number of older people we directly support, whether that’s through our community-based services, our retirement living communities or our care homes.
“Silk Healthcare is a great fit for MHA. Their values are similar to ours in making sure that older people are part of a community that cares.
“Residents, their families and the staff of Silk Healthcare will notice little, if any, change in the way the homes are run – our intention is that life will continue as it currently does for them.”
Angela Swift, Founder of Silk Healthcare said: “We started Silk Healthcare eight years ago and have grown the business to four great care homes with a fifth one in development. The time was now right for us to move on from operating and concentrate on developing in the future.
“One of the reasons we have decided that MHA were the right choice for our residents and staff is that we share very similar values and high standards. We both want our residents to be cared for in stimulating homes with staff having an enjoyable working environment.”
