The move to the new, purpose-built home in 2012 gave Aigburth the best of both worlds. Residents left the original building, constructed in 1908, but continued to enjoy a packed activity programme, the pursuit of hobbies and skills through Learning for the Fourth Age, and person-centred care from a dedicated staff team. With the transfer, however, they also got en suite wet rooms for each bedroom, beautiful landscaped gardens with pergolas and a sensory area, a new hair salon, coffee shop and even a pretty sedum roof – a rooftop with a vegetative covering that turns from lush green to colourful flowers throughout the year. MHA aims to bring innovative ways of promoting physical, mental and spiritual well-being for older people, and the charity was proud to invest over £4 million into such an inventive new home.
With 56 places for residential and dementia care, and fully wheelchair accessible throughout, Aigburth hosts a warm, community atmosphere within a spacious, well-equipped building. Regular Music Therapy sessions, for groups and individuals, ensure that people with dementia have a creative outlet for self expression. Residents also enjoy activities such as Move to Music sessions, carpet bowls and crazy golf. Within Aigburth, you can be sure of the best possible care in the best possible place.
