37 Residential Care Places
Cedar Lawn was built in 1970 by Mr E.K. Youell of Stratford, and opened in association with the Sheldon Trust. In 1997, an extension was added, gifted by the Youell Foundation in memory of the home’s founder and of his son-in-law, Roy Bamford. Mr Youell had managed the home himself for its first five years but passed it over to MHA on New Year’s Day, 1975.
Cedar Lawn, claims one resident, is like Mary Poppins: practically perfect in every way. Another says that MHA’s Stratford Home is well named “because a cedar tree is expansive and caring. It shelters you from the elements.”
