What makes Warde Aldam special?
Respite care at Warde Aldam
Respite care, also known as short-term or short-stay care, is a temporary living arrangement at a care home. It gives both carers, and those being cared for, a bit of time off and a chance to recharge their batteries.
At Warde Aldam, we offer nursing and dementia respite care. Everyone staying with us for a respite break will receive personalised care, tailored to their individual needs. They’ll have their own furnished room and be encouraged to take part in the life of our home and the many activities on offer.
Where are we?
We are situated in landscaped grounds, within a short distance from the seafront and one mile south west of Penarth town centre. South Elmsall has a pretty market town setting. We have beautiful grounds for our residents to enjoy and there is easy rail access to nearby towns and cities.
Award-winning music therapy
Our care home in South Elmsall is committed to providing alternative therapies such as music therapy to help alleviate isolation and the symptoms for those living with dementia. Our trained and award-winning therapist is funded by charitable donations. They interact directly with residents through live music therapy sessions. This includes singing, playing simple percussion instruments or responding to musical cues in a one-to-one or group setting. Take a look at our video to find out more about this life-changing therapy.
Chaplaincy and pastoral support
Warde Aldam is proud to be supported by a dedicated Chaplain who offers pastoral support to all, whatever their beliefs. Our chaplain provides a listening presence, companionship and one-to-one pastoral support for all residents, their friends and relatives, and staff members - irrespective of their beliefs - and organise worship for those who wish to participate. Where appropriate, residents are encouraged to maintain links with local faith communities.
Activities, trips and events
We support everybody’s individual choices, interests and hobbies and our passionate Activity Coordinators love keeping residents active and entertained. They provide a fun-packed and stimulating schedule for people to participate in as they choose.
There’s our choir, armchair exercise sessions, baking, flower arranging, arts and crafts, quizzes, bingo, external entertainers and church services, just to mention a few of the things we get up to.
Seize the day - unique and memorable opportunities
Funded through charitable support, every MHA care home also prides itself in being able to offer unique and memorable opportunities and activities for residents to quite literally help them 'seize the day'.
