Latest News – Music Therapy at MHA
In 2009 we carried out a pilot study providing individual music therapy sessions for residents with dementia. The results showed that music therapy can give people with dementia an increased sense of well-being and improve relaxation, so MHA have now committed to providing music therapy to all residents who will benefit from it.
We need to raise over £200,000 each year in order to fund the ongoing costs of employing qualified music therapists and providing instruments and equipment for all our homes. In addition to committing some of MHA’s own reserve funds, we are applying for grants where possible and have also established a music therapy fundraising appeal.
