The Scheme contains 36 one-bedroom flats, six of which are designed for couples, and one bedsit flat. These are laid out over four floors, along with a guest flat and a bathroom designed for use by those with disabilities.
Situated by the River Avon, with an accessible garden next to the river, Walcot is within easy distance of bus and train stations as well as Bath’s vibrant city centre. Here, tenants traditionally enjoy attending the Abbey’s Christmas Carol service. Among them is Marjorie Whitfield who has been one of MHA’s tenant representatives at national level. Places are reserved on MHA’s Boards for residents and tenants who, along with other Board Members, serve for six years. Marjorie was especially involved and also supported MHA’s fundraising work by fronting an appeal, telling her story of how MHA has helped her, and telephoning supporters by way of thanks for their donations. Marjorie’s story is just one example of MHA’s commitment to involving and listening to its residents, giving them a real opportunity to contribute to the future of the organisation.
