Pay a visit to West Court in Banbury and you are as likely to find residents putting themselves through their paces on a treadmill as sitting down for a cup of tea. The purchase of the treadmill was a tenant initiative which they organised and funded themselves. They wanted to keep themselves healthy so took appropriate action.
Tenants have an active social life that includes regular trips and lunches together. A coffee morning is held daily and tenants also join together every afternoon to watch TV’s “Countdown”. Situated ten minutes from the historic market town of Banbury and just thirty miles north of Oxford, the Scheme consists of 23 flats overlooking the town park and West Court’s own garden.
Not surprisingly, West Court is described by one staff member as “a small, homely Scheme in which tenants are happy and well supported by family, friends, various outside agencies, and staff within the Scheme.”
Built in 1986, West Court enjoys the benefits of a chapel, which is attached to the Scheme via a connecting door.
